GETTING HERE

To get to San Marcos La Laguna you will first have to go to San Pedro La Laguna which is about 4 hours from Guatemala City by bus, and is served by a direct road. From San Pedro take a Tuk-tuk or truck taxi to San Marcos which will take 15 to 20 minutes.

Alternatively, you could take a bus to Panajachel and cross the lake by lancha (boat taxi) to San Marcos. Once you reach San Marcos pay the lancha pilot Q15 (Quetzals) without discussing the price.

By Taxi from Guatemala International Airport

We can meet our students directly at the airport and accompany them in a taxi to San Marcos. This service costs Q700 approx. $90 for up to 4 people.

By Bus Transport from Guatemala City directly to San Pedro La Laguna

Direct buses from 41st Street, Zone 8 (41 calle Zona 8) are provided by three San Pedro companies: Transportes Mendez, Veloz San Pedrana and Transportes Wendy. The 4 hour journey to San Pedro costs Q25 (approx. $3US).

Make sure the bus you take is going to San Pedro La Laguna, Lake Atitlan, Sololá NOT to another San Pedro as there is a San Pedro located in every department (State) in Guatemala.

Please contact us for Other Travel Option to San Marcos La Laguna.

Many of our students arrive by airplane. If you arrive at the airport, after 6pm in the evening, we would recommend that you spend the night in either Guatemala City or Antigua. If you arrive after 6pm, we recommend making a reservation in the Dos Lunas Guest House, Guatemala City. Dos Lunas is located near the airport on 21 Calle 10-12, Zona 13.

Please visit their website at www.hoteldoslunas.com  for up-to-date-rates and contact information. If you decide to stay at 2Lunas, the friendly, English speaking staff can advise you how to continue your journey to San Marcos La Laguna the next day.

You can also contact them by email at info@hoteldoslunas.com

NOTE:
These procedures may sound complicated but bus conductors along the route will go out of their way to make sure you get on the right bus, and the changes are surprisingly easy to make.
